FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an Urgent or Immediate Care and an Emergency Room or Emergency Center?
You’re injured or ill and you need to see a healthcare provider. You call your primary care doctor and they tell you that they are booked up for the next two weeks. You call your backup clinic and they are closed for the day. You have two choices. Find an Urgent care clinic or go to the nearest ER.
Your health is important to us so knowing the difference between an urgent care and an emergency room will help you make the best decision.
You may be thinking, an emergency room will treat a lot of problems. Why come to enTrust Immediate Care? Here are a few reasons:
90% of urgent care patients wait 30 minutes or less to see a provider. At enTrust Immediate Care, we strive to see everyone within a timely manner and keep your wait time to a minimum.
Most urgent care patients are in and out within an hour. If you are coming in for COVID testing, you should be in and out within 15 minutes with results sent to your email so you do not have to wait around at our clinic.
Walk-ins are welcome, and there’s no need to schedule an appointment ahead of time as you would do at a doctor’s office. If you are going to an emergency room, you do not get seen in order of arrival. ER patients are treated by severity so there is a chance that you may be waiting hours before being seen and treated.
enTrust Immediate Care is an urgent care that is more affordable than a visit to an emergency room. An ambulance ride to an ER can cost thousands of dollars!
enTrust Immediate Care walk-in clinics are located in central locations in the heart of Houston.
We accept most major insurance providers, so you do not have to worry about unreasonable out-of-pocket expenses. If you do not have insurance, we have excellent self-pay options as well!
How do I know if I need to go to an emergency room or go to an urgent care?
Life-threatening issues are only handled in an emergency room. You should call 911 immediately if you feel that your life is at risk. If you are unsure if your condition is life-threatening, please call 911 and a dispatcher will direct you. The ER sees and treats issues that are a threat to life and limbs such as chest pain, severe wounds, such as gun and knife wounds, amputations and severed limbs.
Emergency rooms are perfect for emergency situations. If you have a life-threatening condition, go straight to your nearest ER. Such conditions include Chest pain, difficulty breathing, Stroke, Head trauma, Severe bleeding, and Loss of vision.
The difference between urgent care and emergency rooms is the severity of the health problem. If the condition is life-threatening, go to an emergency room.
If the condition is a minor illness or injury, take advantage of the convenience and affordability that enTrust Immediate Care has to offer!
