Houston’s Premier Urgent Care Center and IV Infusion Therapy Clinic Expands Access to Medicaid Patients

Houston, TX — enTrust Immediate Care, a leading urgent care center and IV infusion therapy clinic serving the Greater Houston area, is pleased to announce that it is now accepting Traditional Medicaid at its Houston, TX 77055 location.

This expansion reflects enTrust’s continued commitment to increasing access to high-quality, affordable healthcare for the community. Eligible patients enrolled in Traditional Medicaid can now receive a wide range of urgent care services in a convenient, patient-centered environment.

As Houston’s most trusted walk‑in clinic and urgent care center, enTrust Immediate Care offers comprehensive medical services for adults and children, including urgent care, sports medicine, occupational health, physician-administered IV infusion therapy, vitamin shots, diagnostic testing, and on‑site laboratory services. Accepting Traditional Medicaid reinforces the clinic’s commitment to accessible, patient‑centered healthcare for the Houston community.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to Traditional Medicaid patients. Accepting Traditional Medicaid is an important step in expanding access to immediate, compassionate healthcare for Houston families,” said Dr. Shelise Edwards, MD, FACEP, a board-certified emergency medicine physician and Medical Director of enTrust Immediate Care in Houston, TX.

“Every person in our community deserves prompt and professional medical attention, and we are honored to be a trusted resource for those who rely on Traditional Medicaid for their healthcare needs. We are proud to welcome Medicaid patients and continue delivering the high standard of care our community deserves,” she continued.

Medicaid in Texas is delivered through two primary models: Traditional Medicaid, also known as Fee‑for‑Service Medicaid, is the original Medicaid program, jointly administered by the federal government and various states, including the State of Texas, and Medicaid Managed Care. enTrust Immediate Care accepts only Traditional Medicaid.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to Traditional Medicaid patients. Accepting Traditional Medicaid is an important step in expanding access to immediate, compassionate healthcare for Houston families.”

Eligibility for Medicaid is based on income, household size, disability status, and other state‑defined criteria. Those who may qualify include low‑income adults, pregnant individuals, children, seniors, and people with disabilities. Traditional Medicaid is designed to ensure that vulnerable populations have access to essential healthcare services.

One of the most significant advantages of Traditional Medicaid is flexibility. Beneficiaries can visit any doctor, specialist, clinic, urgent care center, or hospital that accepts Medicaid — including enTrust Immediate Care — without being restricted to a specific network.

Patients with Traditional Medicaid can receive coverage for a wide range of services, including treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, pediatric urgent care, sports medicine, vaccinations, laboratory testing, diagnostic services such as EKGs, and other emergency‑related care.

You know Vitamin B is beneficial, and getting Vitamin B Shots can help you regain lost energy and vitality. Here, our board-certified emergency medicine physician answers your questions about this essential mineral and helps you explore the advantages of vitamin B shots for energy and health. Discover how they can enhance your wellness today.

Q: What is a vitamin B shot, and what does it do?

A: A vitamin B shot, most commonly referring to a B12 injection, is an intramuscular injection that delivers a concentrated dose of B vitamins directly into your bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. B vitamins are water-soluble micronutrients essential for various bodily functions, including converting food into energy, supporting nerve function, producing red blood cells, and synthesizing DNA. These injections can help prevent or treat a diagnosed deficiency and support overall health and vitality.

Q: Who can benefit from a vitamin B shot?

A: Individuals with a diagnosed vitamin B deficiency are not the only individuals who can benefit from Vitamin B12 injections.

Gastrointestinal issues: Conditions like Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, or a history of gastric bypass surgery can impair oral absorption.

Older adults: The body’s ability to absorb B12 from food often decreases with age.

Vegans and vegetarians: Vitamin B12 is found naturally almost exclusively in animal products, making supplementation a consideration for those on plant-based diets.

Individuals with persistent fatigue: For those with a deficiency, a shot can provide a noticeable boost in energy levels and reduced fatigue.

A healthcare provider can determine if you are a good candidate based on your symptoms and medical history.

Q: Are vitamin B shots safe?

A: Yes, when administered by a qualified healthcare professional, vitamin B shots are generally considered safe. B vitamins are water-soluble, so excess amounts are typically flushed out of the body through urine, minimizing the risk of toxicity. However, it’s crucial to discuss your medical history, current medications, and any allergies (especially to cobalt or cyanocobalamin) with a doctor beforehand.

Q: Are there any side effects?

A: Most people experience minimal or no side effects. The most common are mild and temporary.

Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site

Mild diarrhea

Q: How often do I need to get B shots?

A: The frequency depends entirely on your individual needs and the severity of any deficiency. For some with a deficiency, the initial phase might involve daily shots, which then transition to weekly maintenance injections. Your doctor will determine a personalized schedule for you.

Q: Do B12 shots help with weight loss?

A: Vitamin B12 shots are not a magic bullet for weight loss on their own. However, because B12 plays a role in metabolism (converting fats and carbohydrates into energy), ensuring adequate levels can support your body’s efficiency and provide an energy boost that makes maintaining a healthy diet and consistent exercise routine easier. They can be a supportive part of a comprehensive weight management plan, but not a standalone solution.

Q: How are B12 shots different from oral supplements?

A: The primary difference is absorption. Oral supplements must be broken down and absorbed through the digestive system, a process that can be inefficient for some individuals due to age or gastrointestinal conditions. Injections bypass the digestive tract entirely, delivering the vitamin directly into the muscle tissue for immediate and maximum absorption into the bloodstream. This often leads to faster and more reliable results, especially for those with absorption issues.

Q: Do I need an appointment for a B12 consultation?

A: No, you do not need an appointment for a B12 consultation or injection at enTrust Immediate Care in Houston. Walk into the clinic during our operating hours, and our medical staff will assist you immediately with no wait times. If you would prefer to schedule or discuss your visit in advance, please get in touch with our team by phone at 713-468-7845. Our urgent care center is located at 9778 Katy Freeway, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77055.

Walk-ins are welcome, making the process fast and convenient for anyone seeking a B12 energy boost without delays. For virtual consultations or additional arrangements, you can also explore telemedicine options.

Q: What should I bring to my B12 consultation?

A: For your B12 consultation at enTrust Immediate Care, bring a photo ID and a list of any medications or health conditions you have. enTrust offers discounted cash pay prices at the time of service. It’s also useful to bring any prior medical records or lab results related to vitamin B deficiency, if available. No appointment is necessary, so you can simply walk in during operating hours.

Q: Is fasting required before my visit?

A: Fasting is not required before a B12 consultation or injection at enTrust Immediate Care, unless your healthcare provider specifically orders lab work that necessitates it. Most routine vitamin B12 level tests or injections do not require fasting beforehand; however, if additional blood tests such as glucose or lipid panels are requested, fasting for 8–12 hours may be necessary for accurate results. If you need further clarification about this, call the clinic to confirm.

Q: Can I take my regular medications on the day of my visit?

A: You can generally take your regular medications on the day of a B12 consultation or visit unless your healthcare provider instructs you otherwise. It’s important to let enTrust Immediate Care know about all medications, vitamins, and supplements you take, so they can advise you if any should be temporarily withheld on the day of your visit. Never stop or skip medications unless specifically directed by your provider.

What can Vitamin B shots do for You? Benefits of Vitamin B Shots

Let’s talk about what vitamin B shots can actually do for you. This isn’t about vague promises or marginal improvements—we’re talking about tangible, noticeable changes that can transform your daily life.

Here are the potential benefits of Vitamin B Shots.

Energy That Feels Like Getting Your Life Back

Mental Clarity and Cognitive Performance

Mood Stabilization and Emotional Well-Being

Nervous System Support and Protection

Metabolic and Cardiovascular Support

Skin, Hair, and Nail Health

1. Energy That Feels Like Getting Your Life Back

Remember Sarah? After her first series of Vitamin B shots at enTrust Immediate Care, she described the change as “finally feeling like myself again.” Within three days, she realized she no longer needed that third cup of coffee. By the second week, she was waking up naturally before her alarm. By week four, she had the energy to exercise after work—something she hadn’t done in over a year.

This is what proper B vitamin levels feel like: natural, sustained energy that doesn’t crash. Not the jittery spike you get from caffeine or energy drinks, but genuine cellular energy that powers you through your day with clarity and vitality.

2. Mental Clarity and Cognitive Performance

Brain fog is one of the most frustrating symptoms of B vitamin deficiency because it affects everything. You walk into a room and forget why. You struggle to find words in conversation. You read the same paragraph three times without absorbing it.

B vitamins are essential for neurotransmitter production—the chemical messengers your brain uses to think, remember, and process information. When you’re deficient, it’s like trying to make a phone call with terrible reception. The connection keeps dropping, and communication becomes frustratingly difficult. After adequate B vitamin supplementation, many people describe it as “the lights coming back on.” Suddenly, you can think clearly again. Your memory sharpens. That mental quickness you thought you’d lost forever? It returns.

3. Mood Stabilization and Emotional Well-Being

Here’s something critical that often gets overlooked: B vitamins play a vital role in producing serotonin and dopamine, the neurotransmitters responsible for mood regulation. Low B vitamin levels don’t just make you tired—they can genuinely affect your emotional health.

Studies have shown that people with B12 deficiency are significantly more likely to experience depression and anxiety. Some patients who’ve been treating depression for years discover that part of their struggle was actually nutritional, not purely psychological.

This doesn’t mean vitamin B shots cure clinical depression—mental health is complex and often requires comprehensive treatment. But for many people, addressing a B vitamin deficiency is a crucial piece of the puzzle that’s been missing from their mental health strategy.

4. Nervous System Support and Protection

Your nervous system is wrapped in a protective coating called the myelin sheath—think of it like the plastic coating around electrical wires. B12 is essential for maintaining this protective layer. Without enough B12, this coating deteriorates, leading to nerve damage that can become permanent if left untreated.

The tingling, numbness, and nerve pain associated with B12 deficiency aren’t just annoying—they’re warning signs of actual nerve damage occurring in real-time. The good news? When caught early and treated with vitamin B shots, this damage can often be reversed.

Patients with diabetic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, or other nerve conditions often find significant relief with regular B vitamin injections. The improvement can be dramatic—going from constant tingling and pain to a substantial reduction in symptoms within weeks.

5. Metabolic and Cardiovascular Support

B vitamins are crucial for homocysteine metabolism. High homocysteine levels are associated with increased risk of heart disease and stroke. B vitamins, particularly B12, B6, and folate, help convert homocysteine into other beneficial substances, which may support cardiovascular health.

Additionally, because B vitamins are involved in energy metabolism at the cellular level, many people notice improvements in their metabolic function, including better weight management, improved exercise tolerance, and enhanced recovery after physical activity.

6. Skin, Hair, and Nail Health

While this is often considered a “bonus” benefit, it’s worth noting that B vitamins play important roles in cell regeneration and growth. Many people report improvements in skin tone, stronger nails, and healthier hair growth after addressing B vitamin deficiencies.

Think of it this way: if your body is rationing limited B vitamins, it’s going to prioritize critical functions like keeping your heart beating and your brain working. Cosmetic improvements like healthy hair and glowing skin? Those are luxuries your body can only afford when it has nutrients to spare.

Walking into a medical facility for any procedure can be intimidating, especially if you’re unsure of what to expect. Let’s walk through exactly what happens when you come to enTrust Immediate Care in Houston, TX, for vitamin B shots.

Your Initial Consultation

First, you’ll meet with one of our healthcare providers. This isn’t a quick in-and-out transaction—we take time to understand your health history, symptoms, and goals. We’ll ask about:

Your current symptoms and how long you’ve been experiencing them

Your dietary habits (vital for identifying deficiency risk)

Any medications or supplements you’re currently taking

Your medical history, including digestive issues or autoimmune conditions

Previous blood work, if you have it

This conversation is crucial. While vitamin B shots are generally very safe, we want to ensure they’re appropriate for your specific situation and that we’re addressing the root cause of your symptoms, not just treating surface-level complaints.

The Vitamin B Injection Process: Quick and Simple

Getting a vitamin B shot takes about 30 seconds. Seriously. The anticipation is often worse than the actual injection.

The shot is typically administered in your upper arm or buttocks—whichever you prefer. The needle is tiny, and most people describe the sensation as a brief pinch followed by slight pressure as the liquid enters the muscle.

Some people feel a mild burning or stinging sensation that lasts just a few seconds, but many patients report feeling nothing beyond the initial needle stick. Within minutes, you’re done and on your way.

What Happens After Your Shot

Immediately after the injection, you can resume normal activities. There’s no downtime, no recovery period, no restrictions. You can drive yourself home, go back to work, hit the gym—whatever your day requires.

Some people feel energized within hours. Others notice gradual improvements over several days. Everyone’s response is slightly different, depending on how deficient they were and how their body processes and utilizes the vitamins.

Treatment Frequency: Creating Your Custom Plan

At enTrust Immediate Care center, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all protocols. Your treatment frequency depends on several factors:

Severity of deficiency: If you’re severely deficient, you might start with weekly injections, then transition to monthly maintenance shots once your levels stabilize.

Underlying conditions: If you have absorption issues, you might need more frequent injections indefinitely because your body can’t maintain levels through diet alone.

Your response to treatment: Some people maintain excellent levels with monthly shots, while others feel best with injections every two weeks.

Our board-certified doctors and experienced nurses will work with you to determine the frequency that keeps you feeling your best, minimizing unnecessary appointments.

By Dr. Shelise Edwards, MD, FACEP.

Ask yourself these questions. If you answer yes to most of them, you may benefit from vitamin B shots.

Do I have symptoms consistent with B vitamin deficiency? (Persistent fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, tingling, numbness, etc.)

Am I in a high-risk category? (Vegetarian/vegan, over 50, digestive issues, certain medications, etc.)

Have I tried other solutions without success? (More sleep, dietary changes, oral supplements)

Is my current energy level affecting my quality of life? (Missing out on activities, struggling at work, relationships suffering)

Am I willing to commit to a treatment protocol? (Regular appointments, potential ongoing maintenance)

If you answered yes to several of these questions, it’s time to have a conversation with our specialists about getting vitamin B shots.

The Cost of Waiting Before Getting Vitamin Shots

Here’s something to consider: B vitamin deficiency doesn’t get better on its own. In fact, it typically worsens over time. The neurological symptoms, in particular, can become permanent if left untreated long enough.
Every day you spend functioning at 50% capacity is a day you can’t get back. Think about what that fatigue is costing you:

Career opportunities missed because you don’t have the energy to go the extra mile

Precious moments with family spent feeling exhausted and irritable

Health potentially declining as other body systems struggle without adequate B vitamins

Quality of life diminished when you’re too tired to enjoy hobbies, travel, or social activities

Sometimes the cost of inaction is higher than we realize.

Taking the First Step to Better Health

The beautiful thing about vitamin B shots is that they’re low-risk with potentially high reward. You’re not committing to surgery or long-term medication with serious side effects. You’re trying a simple nutritional intervention that, for many people, changes everything.
Here’s what taking action looks like:

Schedule a consultation at enTrust Immediate Care in Houston. Our team is experienced, compassionate, and genuinely invested in helping you feel better.

strong>Be honest about your symptoms. Don’t downplay how you’re feeling. We need the whole picture to help you effectively.

Bring your medical history, including medications, previous blood work, and any relevant diagnoses.

Ask questions. There are no stupid questions when it comes to your health. We want you to feel informed and confident about your care.

Be patient with the process. While some people feel better quickly, optimal results often take a few weeks as your body rebuilds its B vitamin stores.

Why Choose enTrust Immediate Care in Houston, TX?

You have options for where to receive vitamin B shots in Houston, TX. Here’s why enTrust Immediate Care should be your first choice.

If vitamin B shots aren’t the right solution for you, we’ll help you find what is.

Follow-Up and Ongoing Support – Your relationship with enTrust doesn’t end when the injection is done. We’re here for follow-up care, to adjust your treatment protocol as needed, and to answer questions as they arise. Your success is our success.

Transparent, Fair Pricing

Healthcare costs can be stressful and confusing. We believe in transparent pricing with no surprise bills. We’ll discuss costs upfront so you can make informed decisions about your care.

Your Next Steps: Don’t Wait Another Day

If you’ve resonated with any part of this article—if you see yourself in Sarah’s exhaustion, Mark’s nerve symptoms, or Jennifer’s brain fog—I want you to consider this: What would your life look like if you had the energy you need?

Imagine waking up refreshed, thinking clearly throughout the day, having the vitality to enjoy your evenings instead of collapsing on the couch. Imagine feeling like yourself again—the person you know you are when you’re at your best.

That’s not a fantasy. For many people dealing with B vitamin deficiency, it’s a realistic outcome that begins with a simple decision to seek help.

The Time Is Now

You don’t have to live with constant exhaustion. You don’t have to accept brain fog as your new normal. You don’t have to struggle through every day feeling like you’re running on fumes.

enTrust Immediate Care in Houston, TX, is ready to help you. Our doors are open, our team is experienced and compassionate, and we have the tools to determine whether vitamin B shots are the missing piece in your health puzzle.

Call us today. Schedule that consultation. Take the first step toward feeling like yourself again. Because you deserve to live with energy, clarity, and vitality—and we’re here to help you get there.

Your body has been sending you signals. It’s time to listen. It’s time to act. It’s time to reclaim your health and your life.

Welcome to enTrust Immediate Care, where your journey back to wellness begins.

By Dr. Shelise Edwards, MD, FACEP.

Sarah had been dragging herself through each day for months. The 34-year-old marketing manager would hit snooze five times every morning, gulp down three cups of coffee by noon, and still feel like she was moving through molasses. Her colleagues noticed she seemed distracted during meetings. Her husband worried about her constant exhaustion. “Maybe I just need more sleep,” she told herself, even though she was already sleeping nine hours a night.

Sound familiar? Sarah’s story mirrors what thousands of Houstonians experience every single day—a persistent, nagging fatigue that no amount of rest seems to fix. What Sarah didn’t know was that her body was running on empty, specifically lacking one of the most crucial nutrients for energy production: vitamin B12.

After finally visiting enTrust Immediate Care Urgent Care Center in Houston, TX, Sarah discovered that a simple vitamin B shot could be the missing piece in her health puzzle. Within days of her first injection, she noticed a difference. Within two weeks, she felt like herself again—energized, focused, and ready to tackle her busy life.

If you’ve been wondering whether vitamin B shots might be right for you, you’re in the right place. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know about vitamin B injections, from understanding what they are to deciding if they’re the solution your body has been craving.

We’ll show you everything you need to know about their role in well-being, and when discussing potentially getting a Vitamin B Shot with your Primary Care Physician (PCP) might be beneficial.

What Exactly Are B Vitamins? Supporting Your Body’s Engine

Vitamin B shots are intramuscular injections that deliver concentrated doses of B vitamins—most commonly B12 (cobalamin), but sometimes including B6 (pyridoxine) and other B-complex vitamins—directly into your bloodstream.

Think of your body as a complex machine that requires various components and fuel to run efficiently. B vitamins are like essential fluids and parts needed for the smooth operation of many bodily processes.

B vitamins are a group of water-soluble vitamins that play critical roles in cellular metabolism, converting food into energy, and maintaining healthy nerve function, among other things. While Vitamin B is often obtained through diet, some of us might benefit from an additional boost of this essential vitamin.

The Science Behind the Vitamin B Shot

Here’s what makes vitamin B shots so effective: when you take an oral vitamin B supplement, your body has to work hard to absorb it. The vitamin travels through your stomach acid, gets processed by your digestive system, and only then—if your gut is healthy enough—does it enter your bloodstream. Along this journey, you lose a significant portion of the vitamin’s potency.

With an injection, we’re talking about 100% bioavailability. Every microgram of that vitamin goes directly into your muscle tissue, where it’s immediately absorbed into your bloodstream and transported to your cells. It’s the difference between sending a letter through regular mail and hand-delivering it directly to someone’s doorstep.

A Symphony of B Vitamins

The term “B vitamin” refers to eight distinct vitamins, each with unique and vital functions.

B-Complex Shots: These combine multiple B vitamins, including B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic acid), B6 (Pyridoxine), B7 (Biotin) and B9 (Folate). Think of this as the premium package—addressing multiple nutritional needs at once.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic Acid), B6 (Pyridoxine) are integral to metabolic processes, helping your body utilize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins for energy.

Vitamin B7 (Biotin): Known for its role in supporting healthy hair, skin, and nails by aiding in the production of keratin.

Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid): Crucial for the formation of red blood cells, DNA synthesis, and repair.

Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin): Essential for neurological health, red blood cell formation, and energy metabolism. Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin or Methylcobalamin) is the most common type of B shot, primarily used to boost energy, improve mood, and support nerve function. B12 is essential for red blood cell formation, DNA synthesis, and maintaining healthy nerve cells. A deficiency can lead to fatigue and potential nerve damage.

Ensuring adequate intake of these vitamins through a balanced diet is important for overall health.

When to Consider B Vitamin Support: Recognizing Potential Needs

Identifying a potential need for increased B vitamin intake often starts with recognizing certain signs and discussing them with your PCP.

Mark, a 42-year-old construction foreman from Houston. TX, thought the tingling in his hands and feet was just from gripping tools all day. He assumed his memory lapses were normal aging. The persistent brain fog? Well, that’s what happens when you’re working 60-hour weeks, right?

Wrong. Mark was experiencing classic symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency, and he had no idea his body was sending out urgent distress signals.

If you are experiencing persistent fatigue and difficulty concentrating, pay attention. While these symptoms can stem from many causes, your PCP or healthcare provider might consider if a B vitamin deficiency is a contributing factor. After an evaluation, the provider might suggest dietary changes or discuss the possibility of a Vitamin B boost.

You might want to discuss your B vitamin status with your PCP or healthcare provider if you experience any of the following symptoms.

Persistent Fatigue and Low Energy: While common, persistent tiredness warrants investigation into potential causes, which could include B vitamin levels.

Mental Fog and Difficulty Concentrating: B vitamins are important for brain and nerve health; impaired levels can sometimes contribute to cognitive issues.

Weakened Immune System: B vitamins play a role in supporting the immune system.

Physical Stress and Anxiety: Periods of stress or persistent stress and anxiety can impact nutrient levels.

Pale Skin: A B12 deficiency can sometimes lead to a type of anemia that affects skin tone.

Specific Dietary Needs: Individuals following vegan or vegetarian diets may be at higher risk of B12 deficiency and should discuss this with a healthcare provider.

Digestive Issues: Certain medical conditions affecting digestion can impact nutrient absorption.

Conditions outlined above are not all inclusive, and your PCP or healthcare provider may perform tests to assess your B vitamin levels and determine if supplementation, such as through diet or Vitamin B boost, is appropriate for you.

Let’s be clear: everyone feels tired sometimes. But B vitamin deficiency or function isn’t about needing an extra hour of sleep or having a sluggish afternoon. It’s a bone-deep exhaustion that doesn’t respond to rest. It’s waking up tired even after a full night’s sleep. It’s feeling like you’re constantly running on 20% battery, no matter what you do.

If you find yourself relating to this—if you’re tired of being tired—your body might be crying out for vitamin B.

B vitamins, especially B12, are critical for nervous system health. When you’re deficient or have poorly functioning B12, your nerves literally can’t function properly. This can manifest as:

Numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or legs (like Mark experienced)

Balance problems or feeling unsteady when walking

Memory issues or difficulty concentrating (that “brain fog” everyone talks about)

Mood changes including depression, irritability, or anxiety

Confusion or difficulty thinking clearly

These aren’t just inconveniences—they’re your nervous system waving a red flag, desperately trying to get your attention.

Important Things to Consider Before Getting B Vitamins

While essential, discussing any form of supplementation with a healthcare professional is crucial to ensure it’s appropriate for your individual needs and health status.

It is important to discuss your medical history with your healthcare provider.

Certain situations may require caution or avoidance of specific B vitamin supplementation, including –

A history of allergies – While rare, allergic reactions to components in supplements can occur.
Specific Medical Conditions

Kidney Disease: As water-soluble vitamins, B vitamins are processed by the kidneys. Individuals with kidney issues should consult a specialist before getting a Vitamin B shot.

If You Are Pregnant or Breastfeeding: While essential, appropriate dosages and forms of B vitamins should be discussed with our specialists.

The Digestive System Connection

Here’s something most people don’t realize: your gut health directly impacts your B vitamin levels. If you have conditions like Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, or have had gastric bypass surgery, your digestive system may struggle to absorb B12 from food—even if you’re eating all the right things.

People with chronic digestive issues often describe it as “eating perfectly but still feeling terrible.” If this sounds like you, vitamin B shots might bypass the absorption problem entirely, delivering nutrients your gut can’t handle on its own.

Who’s at Highest Risk of Vitamin B Deficiency?

Certain groups are particularly vulnerable to B vitamin deficiencies. If you are suffering from the following condition, consider Vitamin B shots from enTrust Immediate Care Urgent Care Center.

Vegetarians and Vegans: Since B12 is found primarily in animal products, plant-based eaters often struggle to get enough through diet alone. If you haven’t eaten meat in years and you’re feeling constantly exhausted, this could be your missing link.

Adults Over 50: As we age, our stomach produces less acid, making it harder to extract B12 from food. That’s why the energy levels that carried you through your 30s might suddenly vanish in your 50s.

People on Certain Medications: Metformin (for diabetes), proton pump inhibitors (for acid reflux), and some antibiotics can interfere with B vitamin absorption. If you’ve been on these medications long-term and notice declining energy, connect the dots.

Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women: Your baby is literally building a body from scratch using your nutrients. B vitamins are crucial for fetal development, and many mothers become depleted during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

People with Autoimmune Conditions: Conditions like pernicious anemia prevent your body from absorbing B12, no matter how much you consume. This isn’t about eating better—it’s about finding an alternative delivery method.

When Vitamin B Shots Aren’t the Right Choice

While vitamin B shots can be transformative for many people, they’re not appropriate for everyone, and they’re not a cure-all for every type of fatigue or health issue.

When Fatigue Isn’t About B Vitamins

Not all exhaustion is a result of vitamin B deficiency. If you’re struggling with persistent fatigue, vitamin B shots might help—but they might not address the underlying cause if your exhaustion is due to:

Sleep apnea: No amount of B12 will fix a condition where you stop breathing dozens of times per night.

Thyroid dysfunction: Hypothyroidism causes crushing fatigue that requires thyroid hormone replacement, not vitamin supplementation.

Chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia: These complex conditions may have nutritional components, but they typically require comprehensive treatment approaches.

Depression or anxiety disorders: While B vitamins support mental health, clinical mental health conditions usually need psychological and sometimes pharmaceutical intervention.

Anemia from iron deficiency: B12 helps with certain types of anemia, but iron-deficiency anemia requires iron supplementation.

This is why the initial consultation at enTrust Immediate Care is so important. We do not just give shots—we help you feel better. Sometimes that means vitamin B shots are the perfect solution. Sometimes it means identifying and addressing a different issue entirely.

The Importance of Realistic Expectations

Vitamin B shots are powerful tools, but they’re not magic. If you’re expecting:

Immediate, dramatic weight loss: B shots can support metabolism and energy for exercise, but they’re not weight-loss injections.

A cure for chronic diseases: B vitamins support overall health but don’t cure conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or autoimmune disorders.

Permanent transformation from a single injection: Most people need a series of shots, and many require ongoing maintenance.

Setting realistic expectations ensures you’ll be satisfied with your results rather than disappointed by misunderstood promises.

Allergies and Side Effects of Vitamin B Shots

Let’s address the elephant in the room: What could go wrong? While serious reactions to vitamin B shots are extremely rare, being informed means understanding both the common, minor side effects and the rare but serious allergic reactions.

Common Side Effects of Vitamin B Shots (Usually Mild)

Most people tolerate vitamin B shots beautifully with minimal or no side effects. However, some people experience the following side effects.

Injection Site Reactions: Mild pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site is the most common side effect. Think of it like the soreness you might feel after any intramuscular injection. It typically resolves within a day or two.

Mild Nausea or Upset Stomach: Some people feel slightly queasy after their injection, particularly if they received it on an empty stomach. This is usually brief and mild.

Headache: Occasionally, people report mild headaches after B vitamin injections, particularly in the first few doses. This often diminishes as your body adjusts.

Feeling “Wired” or Energized: If you’ve been deficient for a long time, the sudden influx of B vitamins can feel almost too energizing. Some people report difficulty sleeping if they receive their injection late in the day. That’s why we typically recommend morning or early afternoon appointments.

Pink or Red Urine: Don’t panic if you notice your urine is bright yellow or even pinkish after a B shot. This is completely normal—it’s just your body excreting excess B vitamins that you don’t need. Your body takes what it needs and safely eliminates the rest.

The Real-Life Impact: Stories from Houston

Let me share a few more stories from real patients who’ve walked through the doors at enTrust Immediate Care in Houston (names changed for privacy, but experiences very real).

Jennifer’s Journey: From Brain Fog to Business Success

Jennifer, a 51-year-old small business owner, had been struggling with memory problems so severe she thought she might have early-onset dementia. She’d forget client names mid-conversation, lose track of what she was saying during presentations, and spend hours looking for things she’d just set down.

After three months of B12 injections at enTrust, she described the change as “night and day.” Her memory sharpened, her confidence returned, and her business—which had been suffering as her symptoms worsened—began thriving again. “I got my edge back,” she told us during a follow-up visit.

Michael’s Turnaround: The Vegan Athlete’s Dilemma

Michael was a dedicated CrossFit athlete and had been vegan for five years. He was meticulous about nutrition, ate a well-planned diet, and took oral B12 supplements daily. So why was his performance declining? Why did he feel exhausted despite sleeping eight hours every night?

Turns out, his body wasn’t absorbing the oral supplements effectively. Within two weeks of starting B12 injections, his workout recovery improved dramatically. His lifting numbers went back up. His endurance returned. He continued his vegan lifestyle, but now with the B12 delivery method his body actually needed.

Patricia’s Relief: Numbness No More

Patricia had been dealing with numbness in her feet for over a year. Multiple doctors had run tests but found nothing conclusive. She was beginning to accept that this might be her new normal—until a friend suggested she get her B12 levels checked.

She was severely deficient. After a series of weekly B12 injections at enTrust, the numbness began to fade. Three months later, the sensation in her feet had returned almost completely. She cried during one of her appointments, overwhelmed with relief that such a simple solution had ended over a year of discomfort and worry.

Making the Decision: Is It Time for You?

You’ve made it this far in this guide, which suggests you’re seriously considering whether vitamin B shots might be right for you. Let’s bring it all together and help you make an informed decision.

HOUSTON, TX – enTrust Immediate Care, the Houston, TX premier urgent care center and walk-in clinic, today announced that it is now offering IV infusion therapy services to Houston residents and businesses.

Administered by board-certified emergency physicians, the new IV infusion therapies are designed to help Houstonians manage pain, stress, mental fatigue, physical fatigue, weight loss, repair hair, skin, and nails, and build immunity.

The new services include Myers’ Cocktail, ON-THE-GO B12 Injection, Migraine Cocktail Drip, Immunity Boost Drip, Hydrate Drip, NAD+ Infusions, Travel and Flu Immunity Pack, Weight Loss Pack, Hair, Skin, and Nails Repair Pack, Energy battery Pack, and Alert and Focused Pack.

According to board-certified emergency room physician and Medical Director of enTrust Immediate Care Center, Dr. Shelise Edwards, MD, FACEP, millions of Americans face daily exhaustion, dehydration, nagging colds, migraines, or the relentless demands of modern life.

For them, IV infusion therapy may provide the boost needed to function at their best.

She said now may be the best time to see an infusion therapy specialist.

“IV Infusion therapy allows you to receive a personalized ‘cocktail’ of fluids, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or even NAD+ while you relax. It is designed to help you feel hydrated, clear-headed, and energized by the time you leave the clinic or urgent care center,” she said.

Your body is a high-performance machine. Every day of fatigue, dehydration, or imbalance is a day you’re running it in limp mode. IV infusion therapy flips that switch—giving you the fuel, repair, and resilience your body needs, fast.

Dr. Edwards said receiving an IV infusion therapy from an experienced therapist is like giving your body a manual reset.

“All of these IV infusion therapies are designed to give you rapid rehydration, fast relief, and restoration of fluid balance, provide nutrient boost without digestive delay, boost immune defense and antioxidant power, and increase energy, recovery, and clarity. It is like resetting your body,” said Dr. Edwards.

In her recent article on IV Infusion Therapy, Dr. Edwards answered numerous questions about IV therapy and detailed the benefits of IV infusion therapy, including symptoms best treated with IV therapy.

She also outlined what to expect when you visit an urgent care center or clinic for an IV infusion therapy session.

“Not every illness can be treated through IV infusion therapy, and it is not for everyone. While IV infusion therapy helps support your body and aids hydration, nutrient gaps, and recovery, it won’t cure chronic disease without broader medical care,” she said.

Dr. Edwards provided a launch plan for the next step.

“Think of it this way: your body is a high-performance machine. Every day of fatigue, dehydration, or imbalance is a day you’re running it in limp mode. IV infusion therapy flips that switch—giving you the fuel, repair, and resilience your body needs, fast,” she added.

By Dr. Shelise Edwards, MD, FACEP.

Imagine waking up after a night of tossing and turning, feeling as parched as the desert sand. You drag through your day, your energy flatlined—and it isn’t just you. It’s millions battling exhaustion, dehydration, nagging colds, migraines, or the relentless demands of modern life.

Now picture this: in just 30–60 minutes, in a calm clinic, you’re receiving a personalized “cocktail” of fluids, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or even NAD+. You sip herbal tea, scroll social media, and by the time you leave the clinic or urgent care center, you feel different—hydrated, clear-headed, energized. Doesn’t that sound like a reset button for your body?

That’s exactly why now is the time to see an infusion therapist at enTrust Immediate Care Center in Houston, TX. This isn’t another fad—it’s a doorway to feeling better quickly, with targeted support tailored to your needs.

What Is Infusion IV Therapy—and Why It Works

You’re Busting Through Bottlenecks

Most vitamins and supplements taken by mouth are subject to digestion—and your gut acts like a bouncer, deciding who gets in, how much, and when. IV therapy bypasses that gatekeeper, delivering nutrients directly into your bloodstream. The result? Your cells get what they need—fast. That’s up to nearly 100% absorption compared to the 20–50% you might get from a pill.

A Medical Tool with Everyday Power

IV therapy isn’t new—it’s been saving lives since antiquity in emergency rooms and ICUs. However, over the past decade, frontline medicine has converged with wellness culture, and now the same delivery system used for managing serious medical conditions can also aid in addressing fatigue, recovery, and overall mental clarity.

The Broad Spectrum of IV Therapy in Houston, TX

Houston’s infusion scene is booming—catering to a range of needs, from hydration and hangover cures to medically supervised biologic infusions.

Wellness & Hydration Drips

Picture this: You just ran a tough half-marathon in Houston’s humidity. Your muscles ache, your head pounds, and you feel gassed. You book an Energy + Metabolism infusion—a half-liter of fluids with B-vitamins, electrolytes, and amino acids. One hour later, your step’s back. That’s no placebo; it’s replenishing fluids fast and bypassing your gut for full uptake.

Immune Boosters & Antioxidant Rescue

It’s fall, and everyone’s battling sniffles. Or, it’s summer and you’re planning to travel. You go to enTrust Immediate Care Urgent Care Center for an infusion (IV) service and have Mega Immunity—Vitamin C, Vitamin D glutathione dripped while you relax. Your next meeting or flight? You’re dialed in again. These infusions enhance antioxidant defense and micronutrient balance.

Medical & Specialty Infusions

You’re managing Crohn’s, MS, or undergoing chemo. Now hydration plus essential meds are delivered in the clinic under the oversight of physicians and healthcare practitioners at enTrust Immediate Care, with ongoing monitoring.

Meet Emma: A Real Houston, TX Story

Emma, a Houston, TX schoolteacher in her 30s, awoke each winter day with sniffles and a scratchy throat. Coffee wasn’t cutting it, and her skin had lost its glow. One afternoon, after a long day in the classroom, she walked into enTrust Immediate Care and Urgent Care Center. She chose the “Immunity Boost Drip”— Vitamin C and D IV infusion that quickly increases the levels of the immune system activating vitamins in your body. This treatment can help boost your immune system, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health.

After just 45 minutes, she drove home feeling more awake, hydrated, and relaxed than she had over the last several weeks. Over two weeks of twice-weekly sessions, she noticed more stamina, fewer colds, better skin tone—and she’s still hooked.

To Emma, it wasn’t frivolous; it was life-changing. She described it like “pushing the easy reset button I didn’t know my body needed.” And you might, too.

What You’ll Experience at enTrust Immediate Care —Step-by-Step

Pre-Screening and Lab Review
You complete a health questionnaire, and the clinic may check your CBC, kidney function, electrolytes, and vitamin levels. If for medical use, your physician defines the formula.

Infusion Setup
You settle into a chair, IV placed in minutes. You choose music, TV, or simply meditate as you relax.

The Drip
Fluid flows for 30 to 60 minutes. Your body is replenished.

Post-Check & Feedback
Vitals are checked. A nurse asks how you feel. Many people say “like themselves—only better.”

Planning Ahead
Our providers suggest how often to return, based on your goals—wellness, recovery, or medical treatment.

The Powerful Benefits You’ll Feel

Rapid Rehydration = Fast Relief
Missed hydration? One drip can restore fluid balance in 24–48 hours—and that’s when you feel it: more energy, brighter skin, clearer mind.

Nutrient Boost Without Digestive Delay
If your gut’s underperforming—due to stress, IBS, medications—IV ensures vitamins enter your system, not just your stomach.

Immune Defense & Antioxidant Power
High-dose vitamin C fights free radicals at a cellular level. NAD+ and glutathione aid inflammation and repair. Many clients report fewer sick days after regular infusions.

Energy, Recovery & Clarity
B vitamins are metabolism and mind boosters. NAD+ revs energy and focus. Athletes use them for performance; others for clearer thinking and productivity.

Safety First: What You Should Know

We want you safe—so here are the key safety checks:

Always Under Medical Supervision
Go with licensed MDs/DOs, RNs, and NPs in our sterile walk-in clinic and urgent care center. You will always be under their supervision to ensure your safety.

Lab Work & Personalization
Avoid cookie-cutter drips. Our lab will help avoid nutrient overdose (like vitamin C toxicity or kidney stones).

Watch for Side Effects

Side effects are rare but include:

Infection at the IV site

Phlebitis (vein inflammation)

Fluid overload (if heart or kidney function is weak)

Electrolyte imbalance

Don’t Overdo It
Frequent infusions can strain kidneys, veins, and even deplete cofactors—especially without medical checks, so don’t overdo it. Our specialists will monitor your frequency and ensure your safety.

When You Should Immediately Consider an IV

Here’s your fast checklist—time to act:
Symptom or Situation – and – Why IV Helps Fast

You’ve woken up drained, despite sleep and water – Hydration + vitamins can reverse fatigue in hours
You’re deep into cold/flu symptoms – Immune‐boosting drip can boost recovery
Post-hangover, exhausted – Fluid + electrolytes = rapid recovery
Pre/post-surgery, marathon, travel fatigue – Speeds recovery, supports performance
Gut issues limiting oral nutrient absorption – Direct IV delivery bypasses GI challenges

If you’re nodding at any of these, consider calling enTrust Immediate Care infusion specialists today.

Busting Myths and Setting Real Expectations

Myth 1: “Everyone needs it!”
Nope. For healthy folks eating well, IV is often unnecessary—and sometimes wasteful

Myth 2: “It instantly cures everything!”
IV therapy helps support your body. It aids hydration, nutrient gaps, and recovery—but it won’t cure chronic disease without broader medical care.

Myth 3: “Boosting vitamins is harmless!”
Too much of some vitamins can be dangerous—especially vitamin C in high doses or those predisposed to kidney issues.

Myth 4: “No proof—just placebo.”
Certain populations—chemo patients, IBS, autoimmune conditions—have clear, evidence-backed benefits.

How to Choose the Right IV Provider

Check credentials: Providers must be MD, NP, RN, or use physician supervision.

Lab-backed customization: Avoid generic drips without baseline labs.

Sterile environment: Clinics should follow strict infection control.

Transparent pricing: Know exactly what’s included—fluids, vitamins, travel, follow-up.

Clear protocols: Emergency plans and medical oversight should be standard.

Insurance coverage: Medical infusions may be billed—wellness is typically out-of-pocket.

If they don’t tick these boxes, they’re not for you.

Compelling Case: Why Right Now Matters

The clock resets your recovery: Each minute of dehydration or fatigue deepens your recovery lag. IV therapy moves you back on track fast.

Houston weather doesn’t wait: Humidity, allergens, overwork—don’t wait for symptoms to overwhelm you.

Your healthiest self is proactive: Prevention beats recovery every time.

Avoid the hospital train: Early intervention keeps you out of emergency rooms (ER) —and feeling in control.

Mental ripples matter: Once physically aligned—hydrated, balanced—you feel mentally sharper. And decisions get easier.

Don’t wait till you’re crashing. Act now, reset your energy, beat dehydration, and feel like your best self again.

Ready to Take Action? Here’s Your 5-Point Launch Plan

Self-audit: Rate your current fatigue, hydration, immune symptoms, and recovery time.

Choose your aim: Need immunity? Skin glow? Energy? General recovery?

Pick a provider: Look at credentials, location, and pricing.

Schedule & prepare labs: Our infusion (IV) specialists may ask you to fast or test beforehand.

Book your drip: At clinic —clear schedule for 45–60 mins, stay hydrated before and after.

And remember: follow up with our clinic, track how you feel, and adjust as your needs evolve.

Pulling It All Together

But when done right: with medical oversight, personalized formulas, and safety standards—it’s a powerful tool that amplifies your health.

Infusion (IV) Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does insurance cover these?
A: Wellness drips (energy, immunity) are typically not covered. Medical infusions (iron, biologics, oncology) may be covered if billed through insurance.

Q: How often can I get a drip?
A: For wellness, our providers recommend every 2–4 weeks. With targeted goals, monthly is common. If you’re ill or prepping for something big, you might want 2–3 sessions close together—always guided by specialists in our clinic.

Q: Can IVs damage veins or cause long-term issues?
A: Rarely. Proper rotation, skilled placement, and hydration protect vein health. Overuse without supervision can cause vein irritation —but our providers minimize this.

Q: Is it just a trend?
A: No—IV therapy is rooted in clinical practice. The difference lies in why and how it’s used. In our Houston, TX clinic, our providers have refined these tools for everyday wellness, safely and effectively.

Final Thoughts

Think of it this way: your body is a high-performance machine. Every day of fatigue, dehydration, or imbalance is a day you’re running it in limp mode. IV infusion therapy flips that switch—giving you fuel, repair, resilience—fast.

If reading this stirred something in you—the urge to move, to feel better—don’t wait. Contact infusion specialists at enTrust Immediate Care Center today and take back your energy, clarity, and confidence. Your best self is already inside you—let IV therapy from us help bring it out.

By Dr. Shelise Edwards, MD, FACEP.

What is a UTI?

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of your urinary system — your kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Most infections involve the lower urinary tract, which includes the bladder and the urethra.

Causes of UTIs

UTIs typically occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply in the bladder. The most common cause of UTIs is Escherichia coli (E. coli), a bacteria commonly found in the bowel.

Here are some factors that can increase your risk of developing a UTI:

Anatomy: Women have a shorter urethra, making it easier for bacteria to reach the bladder. Women get UTIs up to 30 times more frequently than men.

Sexual contact: Can introduce bacteria into the urinary tract.

Menopause: Decreased estrogen levels can make the urinary tract more susceptible to infection.

Urinary tract abnormalities: Blockages or any abnormality in the urinary tract can make it easier for bacteria to settle.

Weakened immune system: Makes it harder for the body to fight off infection.

Holding urine: Not emptying your bladder regularly allows bacteria a greater chance to multiply in the bladder.

Cleaning technique: Wiping from back to front after using the toilet can transfer bacteria to your urethra.

Symptoms of a UTI

Common symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI) include the following.

More frequent urination (possibly small amounts)

A strong, persistent urge to urinate

A burning sensation when urinating

Urine that appears cloudy

Urine that appears red, bright pink, or cola-colored — a sign of blood in the urine

Strong-smelling urine

Lower abdominal pain

Treatment for UTIs

UTIs are typically treated with antibiotics. Your physician will determine the type of antibiotic and the duration of the treatment but the specific type of antibiotic and duration of treatment will depend on the severity of your infection and your medical history.

Antibiotics: Your doctor will likely prescribe an antibiotic to kill the bacteria causing the infection. It’s crucial to complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if your symptoms improve, to prevent the infection from returning.

Home remedies: While not a substitute for medical evaluation and treatment by a board-certified emergency physician or your primary care physician (PCP), some home remedies may help relieve, although not treat your UTI symptoms.

Over the Counter Pain reliever: such as phenazopyridine decreases bladder pain.

Pain relief: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help relieve discomfort from UTIs.

Increased fluid intake: Drinking plenty of water may help prevent further growth of bacteria in the urinary tract.

Heating pad: Applying a heating pad to your lower abdomen can help soothe pain.

If you suspect you have a UTI, it’s important to see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Early treatment can help prevent complications like kidney infections.

When to Visit Urgent Care Center for UTIs

Here’s when you should consider going to an urgent care center for a UTI:

Symptoms: If you have a burning with urination, increased urination or the uncontrollable urge to urinate.

Blood in your urine: This can be a sign of a more serious issue.

No improvement with home care: If you’ve tried home remedies like increasing fluid intake, but your symptoms aren’t improving or are worsening after 24-48 hours.

Difficulty urinating: If you’re unable to urinate or have significant pain while urinating.

Important:

Don’t delay treatment: Untreated UTIs can lead to kidney infections, which are more serious.

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help flush out bacteria.

We hope this helps you make the best decision for your health!

——————————————————————————————

Q – When Should You Go to an Urgent Care Center?

A – While no one can predict when they or their family will need medical care, it is important to know that urgent care centers can treat most of the same illnesses treated in emergency rooms and at your doctor’s office but usually at lower prices.

Urgent care centers are ideal for conditions that require immediate attention but are not life-threatening. If you’re experiencing any of the following, an urgent care center can be the right choice.

Minor Injuries: Sprains, strains, or small cuts that may require stitches.

Illness Symptoms: Sudden onset of flu, cold, sore throat, or sinus infections.

Minor Fractures: Simple fractures that do not involve severe pain or deformity.

Non-Severe Allergic Reactions: Mild allergic reactions, such as hives or swelling, that do not involve difficulty breathing.

Certain conditions require immediate visit to an emergency room so if you’re experiencing symptoms of a severe or life-threatening condition, such as chest pain, severe bleeding, difficulty breathing, or symptoms of a stroke, you should go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 immediately.

Q – How Do Urgent Care Centers Differ from Emergency Rooms?

A – While both urgent care centers and emergency rooms provide immediate medical attention, they serve different purposes.

Urgent Care Centers are best for non-life-threatening conditions. They are generally faster and less expensive than emergency rooms, with shorter wait times. They employ experienced board-certified physicians and nurses like emergency rooms but most of the Nurse Practitioners (NP) or Physician Assistants (PA) are experienced in non-life-threatening illnesses.

Urgent care centers are designed to handle common medical issues that need prompt treatment but are not life-threatening emergencies.

Emergency Rooms or ERs on the other hand are equipped to handle severe and life-threatening conditions, such as heart attacks, strokes, major trauma, or severe injuries. The doctors at emergency rooms are usually board-certified and experienced in handling life-threatening conditions and traumas and are better equipped to handle these serious health issues.

Also emergency rooms are usually open 24/7 and have the necessary equipment to treat critical conditions.

Q – Do You Need an Appointment at an Urgent Care Center?

A – One of the biggest advantages of urgent care centers is that they typically do not require an appointment. Most urgent care clinics like enTrust Immediate Care, operate on a walk-in basis, meaning you can simply walk in without appointments. This allows patients to receive care when they need it without scheduling in advance. However, some urgent care centers like enTrust Immediate Care Center offer online check-in or appointment options, which can help reduce wait times.

Do you need an appointment to visit an urgent care center? That depends on the situation. If you can schedule your visit, that is usually the better option since you are guaranteed to be seen by a physician at a time of your choosing. But there are times when that is just not possible and you or a family member needs to see a physician right now, you can simply walk in and be seen by a physician at most urgent care centers.

Q – What Should You Bring to an Urgent Care Visit?

A – Like emergency rooms or hospitals, when visiting an urgent care center, it’s important to bring a few essential items to ensure a smooth and efficient visit. Bring these items or having these information readily available will allow your attending physician to be more efficient in diagnosing your illness and prescribing an efficient remedy.

Bring the following when you visit an urgent care center.

Identification: A government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to verify your identity.

Insurance Information: Your insurance card or details to help with billing.

Medical History: A list of any medications you are currently taking, as well as any allergies or past medical conditions.

Payment Method: Co-pays or out-of-pocket costs are typically required at the time of service.

Q – What Services Do Urgent Care Centers Provide?

A – Urgent care centers offer a wide range of services beyond treating minor injuries and illnesses. Some of the services commonly provided include the following.

X-rays and Diagnostic Testing: Many urgent care centers have on-site X-ray machines and laboratories for rapid diagnosis of illnesses and diseases.

Vaccinations and Immunizations: Common vaccines, such as flu shots, are often available.

COVID-19: Most urgent care centers administer COVID treatments and vaccinations.

Physical Exams: Routine physicals for school, sports, or employment purposes.

Occupational Health Services: Some centers provide services like drug testing, workplace injury treatment, and employee health screenings.

Q – How Do Urgent Care Centers Handle Pediatric Care?

A – When your little one is not feeling 100%, you as the parent will do everything in your power to help them get better and that includes taking them to see the doctor. Like emergency rooms, many urgent care centers are equipped to treat children, making them a convenient option for pediatric care outside of normal pediatrician office hours.

These centers like enTrust Immediate Care have experienced physicians and other staff trained in pediatric care and are capable of handling common childhood illnesses and injuries, such as ear infections, fevers, and minor cuts, and more.

Q – Are Urgent Care Center Visits Covered by Insurance?

A – Since urgent care centers are less expensive to use and usually charge less than your typical emergency room or hospitals, most insurance plans are happy to cover urgent care visits, but coverage may vary depending on your specific plan.

It’s advisable to check with your insurance provider to understand the details of your coverage, including co-pays and out-of-pocket costs. Urgent care centers typically accept a wide range of insurance plans, and many also offer self-pay options for those without insurance. These self-pay options are usually lower than what emergency rooms or hospitals will charge you.

Q – How Much Does an Urgent Care Visit Cost?

A – The cost of an urgent care visit can vary depending on the services provided and whether you have insurance. On average, an urgent care visit is significantly less expensive than an emergency room visit. For example, a basic visit might range from $75 to $200, while more complex services like X-rays or lab tests can increase the cost.

Always check with the urgent care center you plan to visit about pricing, especially if you are uninsured or have a high-deductible insurance plan. Most urgent care centers are happy to discuss payment options with you when you visit.

Q – What Are the Advantages of Choosing an Urgent Care Center?
